Aggie’s Classy Caesar
Is there anything more Canadian than the Caesar? Perhaps poutine and maybe maple syrup, but Caesars are certainly iconic! The classic Canadian Caesar includes Clamato juice, vodka, Worcestershire sauce, and Tabasco as its fundamental ingredients. However, it can be customized to your heart's content!
My version of this delicious cocktail features lime, a few added spices, Aggie's dilly pickle juice, along with Aggie's beans, asparagus and pickles for garnishing. It's perfectly balanced in acidity, spiciness, and tartness, staying true to the original recipe while adding a unique twist, making it a standout Caesar.
The Caesar was invented by Walter Chell, a bartender in 1969 at the Calgary Inn (now the Westin Calgary). Walter was asked to create a signature drink to compliment the restaurant's Italian menu. The drink's unique flavours, combining savory, spicy, and salty notes, resonated with Canadians, and now it has become a staple in bars and restaurants across the country, with over 350 million caesars being consumed annually, wow! Today, the Caesar is often considered Canada's national cocktail.
Why not give my Aggie's Classy Caesar a try and see for yourself? This Caesar recipe is the best Caesar cocktail around. In my opinion of course....lol
Celery salt and Montreal Steak Spice for the rim
2-3 Lime wedges
2 oz. Vodka
2 oz. Aggie's Dilly Pickle, pickle juice
6 oz. Clamato juice
2-3 dashes Worcestershire Sauce
2-3 dashes Tabasco
1/8 tsp. Celery salt to sprinkle on top
1 of each Aggie's Dilly Pickles, Bean Supreme, Asparagus Bliss and a pepperoni for garnish
1. Take a lime wedge and run it around the top rim of your glass, then dunk the rim in the celery salt with montreal steak spice mixture. Fill the glass with ice.
2. Pour in the vodka and the pickle juice. Squeeze in some lime juice (I like to use 2 wedges). Add the worcestershire and tabasco.
4. Fill the glass with Clamato juice. Give it a good stir and sprinkle celery salt on top.
5. Garnish with Aggie's Dilly Pickles, Bean Supreme, Asparagus Bliss and a pepperoni.
